During the first weekend of February each year our college/career minsitry takes students to the 20/20 Collegiate Apologetics conference. They always are challenged and inspired.
The theme was "The Scriptures Come To Life". Here is what Southeastern's website had to say about it.
- The Bible is the Word of God and, as such, is deeply relevant to our personal lives, our college studies, and our future vocations. It speaks with power to every dimension of society and culture, and across the fabric of human existence. In other words, the Bible matters not only for personal devotions and for Sunday mornings, but for the arts, the sciences, the university, the government, and business sector. For this reason, The Scriptures Come to Life equips students study God’s Word for all it is worth, to memorize it as our life depends upon it, to speak its truths powerfully in our 21st century context, and to apply the Scriptures to every aspect of our lives.
The schedule is filled with worship, preaching and breakout sessions from some of the most popular speakers today. Trying to process everything is much like trying to drink water from a fire hydrant. Our students always responds well to this event. Also, one of the highlights is to worship at The Summit Church on Sunday. Pastor J.D. Greear delivered a message that spoke straight to the hearts of our students. Some even made life changing decisions while there. We are grateful for our College leaders and church who support, inspire, and lead our college students on a daily basis.

I recently met James Connelly who is the owner of JC Surf Camps. Their organization offers 3 day summer surf camps and will work with grades 5-12. I am familiar with this ministry and know of other churches that have taken advantage of this. I am wondering if you think this is something your child might like to participate in. They charge $120 for 3 two hour lessons (1 Per day) James C. and his instructors are all Christian and make sharing the gospel a priority as well as teaching surfing skills. He is booking his summer now and if we have the interest, I would like to get a spot in early June or August for us. Let me know ASAP if this is something you think your child may want to participate in. james@pinevalleybc.org
